Steel Grating Clips, Fasteners and Installation Planning

Grating clips (also called grating clamps) and other fasteners affect support layout, edge banding, removable areas and site access, so they belong on the panel drawing rather than at the end of the order. Show the bearing bar direction, clear span, support lines and minimum bearing. Mark every removable panel and any hinge, handle, lock or lifting point. Select the clip, saddle, bolt or other fastener for the grating construction and supporting member, then state its material and corrosion protection. Record panel joints, site clearances and fixing locations before fabrication so the delivered panels fit the steelwork and the packing list includes the correct accessories.
Confirm before fabrication
- Bearing direction, support lines, clear spans and minimum bearing
- Fixed and removable panel boundaries
- Clip or fastener system, material and finish
- Panel gaps, walls, curbs, penetrations and equipment clearances
- Cut-outs, banding, toe plates, stair holes and nosing direction
Put installation information on the drawing
Use panel marks and a clear installation sequence. Put removable areas and fixing locations on the drawing; a general note is not enough.
If clips are included in the order, list type, finish and quantity in both the quotation and packing list.
